My husband recently was hospitalized with a serious case of c-diff. He was given vancomyacin orally, rectally, and intravenously. He is still on it orally. He is somewhat improved, but he is very tired and lethargic. Is this normal? Also,I was reading his discharge info, and one of the notations was that he has toxic metabolic encephalopathy. This was never brought to my attention. When I searched for it, I was pretty shocked to see that one of his diagnosis was this. This is not good. It can progress and there is not much you can do about it. Is that right? No drugs or therapies to help? Is each individual different ; that is, some will experience a rapid decline, while others will slowly decline? What can I do to make my husbands life more enjoyable? He doesn t really have an interest in much. Thank you.
