Hi! Welcome to HCM!
Fludac contains the active ingredient
Fluoxetine, which is an anti-depressant.
In the United States, it belongs to
pregnancy category C. This means "Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks."
Fluoxetine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefits outweigh risk. Neonates exposed to fluoxetine and other SSRIs or SNRIs late in the third trimester have developed complications requiring hospitalization, respiratory support, and tube feeding.
If really needed, you may continue with Fludac. That being said, if you are going to be taking this medication, it should be done under the supervision of your doctor to ensure the health and safety of your unborn child.
Hope this information helps you. Feel free to ask if you have any doubt.
Wishing you the best!
Regards,
Dr. Sridhar Reddy
