Is Gallbladder Removal Surgery Advisable While Suffering From UTI?
68 year old brother sent home after 10 days in hospital with gallbain and blood in urine that turned out to be enterococcus species. Was supposed to have gallbladder removed but now UTI is problem and needs to be treated with 10 days of antibiotics before possibility of Dec 8 gallbladder being removed. Gallbladder is considered partially collapsed with a 6mm gallstone that went into the neck of the gallbladder. Do you think it would be dangerous to laposcopically remove the gallbladder in this condition? Thanks.
Based on the facts that your brother is diagnosed to have calculus disease of the Gall Bladder and also has UTI ,
In view of he being 68 years old I would suggest you to get him investigated for Enlarged Prostate being the cause for his UTI and hematuria before going ahead for Laproscopic Cholecystectomy .
The treatment for Enlarged prostate is more important than Gall bladder surgery which in majority of patients is silent disease .
If he turns out to have Enlarged Prostate both the procedures of removing prostate by endoscopic surgery (TURP) and laproscopic cholecystectomy can be done in single sitting simultaneously .
