Is Getting Off Birth Control Pills At Age 57 A Good Move?

I am 57 years of age and want to go off my birth control pills, my periods are really very light if any and I need to know if this is a good move. One doctor said to go off them I don t need to be having periods at my age and staying on the pill will keep me having periods, what are my odds have been on the bill since I was 22years of age and now 57.

Hi,

Considering your age I suggest you to stop the pill and get a gynaec check up including pap smears and an ultrasound scan.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. B. Radhakrishnan. Nair, OBGYN
