Is Having A Scar In My Lungs From Years Ago A Sign Of Tuberculosis?
I have a scar in my lungs years ago and had taken my meds for 6 months. This year my xray shows, ptb ,both upper lobes activity undetermined. My sputum test is negative. I do not have cough or fever. Is there a possibility that I have tuberculosis? I was given medical fit to work certificate.
Actively undetermined upper and lower lobes of the lungs means that the X-ray shows some exposure to TB, but X-ray cannot determine whether the infection is active or old based on the image alone. Further study is required to be done like sputum analysis, blood tests, skin tests and additional imaging tests need to be done to confirm if the infection is in the active stage. If infection is found to be active, you will be treated with a course of medicines. A healed scar may not be indicative of active PTB infection.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
