Is Having Intense Ear Pain And Pus Discharge Sign Of Ear Infection?
Hi, I have a sore inside what I think is my triangular fossa (outer ear). It's been there a few weeks but has recently become more painful and hurts to touch. Today it has been producing puss. Would this be considered an ear infection? Do I need ear drops? Thanks
It looks like there is severe infection in ear and the sore can be an abscess post infection in ear.. Pus discharge further points towards infection in ear.. So my suggestion is to consult an Emergency room and get a clinical examination done along with Otoscopy to rule out the exact nature of infection.. You can be advised a course of oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatory painkillers.. Antibiotic and analgesic ear drops will also be advised.. The pus will be drained off and ear will be cleaned to let infection clear faster.. Along with it avoid excess moisture exposure to ear as it can increase infection.. Do not pick the ears or try to clean it on your own without doctor's advise..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
