Hello,
I can understand your concern. As you got punched on your ear and having pain while opening the mouth, it seems that you have your Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) hurt from the
injury. This is the joint near ear that helps in opening and closing of the jaw along with side to side movements. It can also give headache as
referred pain. '
If you are not having any swelling over the area, you can wait for a few days for the pain to subside. You can do
cold compressions over the area and can take painkillers such as
Ibuprofen 400 mg or
Ketorolac 10 mg up to three times a day for pain relief. Refrain from opening mouth too wide and have
soft diet for few days.
If you develop swelling over the area or if the pain increases immensely, I would advise you to visit an oral & maxillofacial surgeon for examination of the TMJ and further investigations such as x-ray,
CT scan to assess the injury site.
You might be feeling tired as it is after midnight and it is normal to feel tired at this time. Have a good night's sleep and you should feel fresh in the morning that way.
I hope this information guides you well. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you recover soon.
Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
