Is Headache Normal After Hitting Head Hard?

I hit my head quite hard yesterday and am experiencing headaches today. I did not lose conciousness or have any other serious signs, it just hurt a lot and I put ice on it. Should I be worried that something more serious is happening since I m having headaches, or is this a normal response to mild head injury?

Hello,

Headaches after a head bump are usual. However, if this is accompanied by loss of consciousness, vomiting and seizures, an intracranial pathology is entertained.

You need an immediate CT scan to rule things out. For now, since everything is healthy aside from the headache, you can take Tylenol every 8 hours to relieve the pain and observe everything if it's worsening. If not, your just okay and everything will be fine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
