Is Hearing Heart Beat In My Ears A Sign Of Illness?

Normally my heart rate is 55-70 beats per minute, but usually in the low 60's. It is 82 now. Not so high but I can hear the beating in my ears so loudly and I have been sitting doing report cards. This loud beating has been appearing for about two months. Is this a sign for something? I am 64 years old and in good health (female). Had a checkup a year ago. Had all my vitals and blood tests done in the spring and all is we'll. I. have an appointment for an annual checkup Feb. 11. Hope I have given you enough info

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding hearing of own heart beat.

I would like to say that usually an healthy individual can't listen his/her own heart beat unless ear is put over chest or over artery at wrist. But whenever there is hyper circulation as in Hyper thyroid, after exercise or there is narrowing of vessels of internal ear leading to degeneration of hair cells as in advancing age one may hear his/her own heart beat.

Probably your query is answered.

Regards.
