Is Heart Transplantation Advisable When Implantation Cannot Be Done?
77 yr young female Permanent Atrial Fib, stopped/restarted heart 3 times. Hospital will not do again. New Implant not a candidate b/c Sick Sinus. Loosing ground - tire quickly loosing strength & weight. Would I be reasonable candidate for Heart transplant ? Electrophysiologist/cardiologist answer & advise please.

Heart transplantation is not a suitable option in your case due to associated operative mortality linked with the age group of yours.Sick sinus can be corrected with implantable cardiac defibrillator that can adjust the heart rates to a prefixed value.I advise you to have a baseline 2 dimensional echo to rule out congestive cardiac failure.Drugs like inotropes can increase the cardiac output and improves your symptoms.
