Is Hemodialysis Or Peritoneal Dialysis Better In The Long Run?
Hello i found your site very interesting.. My father aged 82 is undergoing hemodialysis for the past one month.. he had pneumonia/lung infection ... due to which infection increased and urea/creatinine level got up and was advised hemodialysis asap. though he was already prepared for it as things were not so good before.
So in the early stage when his urea was 240 and creatinine was 8.5 we need in the interval of 3 days. But now the levels have come down to urea 85 and creatinine 3.5 I just need to know how frequent and at what level we require to do dialysis.
Now as hemodialysis has to continue...doctor had advised for fistulla but unfortunately they couyld not find the veins. And have advised to go for CAPD from stomach.
Which would be the better way hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis for long run.

Is Hemodialysis Or Peritoneal Dialysis Better In The Long Run?
Obviously hemodialysis is far better than peritoneal dialysis. Better control of solutes, electrolytes can be achieved with hemodialysis.
