We are in an adoption pool (we have a 10year old daughter) and one of the questions in our placement consideration is whether we would be will ing to adopt a child that has a mother with Hep C? I don't want to put the daughter I have at home at risk, then there are the cousins etc. But not all Hep C mum's pass on to their newborns, not sure what to do?

hi. thanks for posting query at HCM. the child maybe tested for HepC ( blood tests) and hope that she is HepC negative. even if tested positive; HepC infection can be treated now with oral medications. the treatment period is 12 to 24 weeks. hope to answer your concern regards DR Tayyab Malik
