Is Hernia, Related With Lumps With Chest Tightness?
I have had the feeling of a lump in my throat for six months. It is relieved when I eat and sleep but comes right back. I also feel a tightness in my chest and feel that I have to burp a lot. My endoscopy came back normal with a little gastritis. Could I have a hernia that was missed?
Hiatal hernia is usually clearly visible during gastroscopy. So it is rather not the case. What seems the most probable reason of your symptoms is GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). It is caused by stomach acid regurgitation to the esophagus. It may cause a chest tightness and lump in the throat as well. GERD should be treated with medicines called PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) like Omeprasole. You should also improve your diet: avoid fatty foods, spicy foods, chocolate, coffee, alcohol, orange juices.
If diet and medicines want be helpful, you should consider surgery called fundoplication.
Hope this will help. Regards.
