Is Hysterectomy Advisable For Treatment Of Tipped Bicornuate Uterus?

I have a tipped bicornuate uterus along with PCOS. I have terribly heavy periods. I have no children & do not ever plan on conceiving due to my uterus. What are my chances of getting my dr to let me have a hysterectomy? I'm 33 with no other health issues.

Hi,
Thanks for consulting us.
A Bicornuate uterus, is a partially split uterus in the shape of a heart. This abnormal shape can cause recurrent pregnancy loss (in the second trimester), preterm delivery, fetal growth retardation or abnormal lie of the fetus.
However, a woman may still have a normal & uneventful pregnancy.
Bicornuate uterus is most commonly treated surgically using reconstructive surgery. Procedure is called Metroplasty. It is not required in all women!
Cervical cerclage can be used to reduce the risk of premature delivery.
Your heavy periods may be related to your PCOS & not uterine problem.
On top of that you are too young & have no children. Although you have a choice to make decision about your self but studies have shown that young women who don't have children & had hysterectomies feel depressed & regretful later in life.
In addition Hysterectomy is a major surgery with a lot of potential complications. So, I think it is very unlikely that your doctor agree with your decision.
There are many other options to deal with heavy periods. You should try them first.
Best wishes.
