Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Increase In The Pulse Rate In A 61-year-old A Cause For Concern?
Greetings. I am a 61 year old male. My BP is normally very standard at 135/75 with a pulse of 72. I have just visited my physician for annual check up and he was extremely happy with everything. However for the last 2 days my resting pulse has been 96. Not normal for me. It is a weekend and I am concerned. Advise please.
pulse of 96 is not anything to worry about if you otherwise feel well. In fact, the heart rate varies normally with our daily activities and times to some extent.
We consider it normal if it is between 60 and 100 per minute. So don't worry about it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
