Is It OK To Lift Leg And What Are The Solutions For Baker's Cyst?

I had a ruptured baker's cyst in my lt knee joint since Christmas a month ago.
My both whole leg (rt & Lt) was swollen from the knee joint down to the whole foot.
Had ultra sound of my left leg only.
Nothing was given except Voltaren for the pain and told to rest.
Swelling subsided last week and the pain is tolerable now. Pain only on exertion and weight bearing
Had problem with going downstairs but much better and comfortable going upstairs.
I cannot lift up my left leg easily onto a higher chair. It is ok to lift my leg up about 1 foot from the ground
What am I suppose to do from now onwards as a symptomatic relief in the near future

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.

If cyst is small it can be managed consevatively with medication.

If you have persistent pain and large swelling then you may need surgical excision.

Do not worry about rupture of cyst.if on rupture pain has reduced then do nothing.

You need to continue physiotherapy of knee.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
