Is It A Matter Of Concern If Child Is Having Slight Pain And A Soft Bump Above The Ear After Bumping Into Someone?

My son is 3 yrs old.. On Sunday he got collided with another child and dell back ward and hit is head . He has a bump and a soft spot above his ear. Checked with is pediatrican and he said it is fine , but today is thursday and he still have slight pain and soft bump above his ear... Should I take him for a ct scan ??

Hello. Thank you for your question. What you describe is very common. Once your son cleared the first 24 hours without incident, you virtually ruled out anything worrisome going on in his head. The swelling and pain he feels from the bruise can last days, and sometimes even weeks. However, it is not an indication for further evaluation. He just needs more time to heal.
