Is It Advisable For Parents To Go Through A Process Of Mental Screening Before They Decide To Conceive?

Hello, I have chosen a topic on whether or not parents should get and or consider having a mental health screening before deciding to conceive. I can t find any counter claims to this statement and was wondering if you have some thought towards this and information (why you think parents should not be required to get a mental illness screening done) and evidence to back it. Thank you

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

In my opinion, mental screening of parents before conceiving a baby is very important. It will help in addressing the problem if any, and hence, positive parenting of the kid. It has been documented in various research articles that psycho-social problems in parents can cause higher screen time and behavioral problems in children.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
