Hello,
Strong bad odor from vagina commonly occurs due to
Gardnerella vaginitis. When there is an imbalance of vaginal flora, too much of it grows and leads to
vaginal infection called
bacterial vaginosis. Other underlying diseases that cause bad odor is trichomoniasis,
rectovaginal fistula, vaginal or
cervical cancer.
No, HPV does not cause bad odor, but it can cause cervical cancer. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a gynae, get also STD tests done. You will be accordingly treated with antibiotics or antivirals. Do not douche the vagina as it will further worsen the Ph of the vagina.
Clindamycin, metronidazole or tinidazole either taken orally or applied in the vagina as suppository help to treat vaginal odor. To prevent vaginal odor, take adequate amount of water and fluids, maintain good hygiene, get PID, etc., treated. Stay away from unprotected sex. Avoid multiple partners.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
