Is It Advisable To Take Aspirin Daily Given A History Of Strokes And Family History Of Heart Issues?

I had a contrast dye related stroke when I was 30. I had nO residual effects. I am now 82. At 80 I had another stroke with a little short term memory issues. Both my maternal and paternal families have history of high blood pressure and heart attacks. I have been taking Low dose for 20 years. after the last stroke my doctors asked me to take 325. Is that still advisable?

Hi,

When you are on low dose Aspirin and have no residual effects of stroke, you can continue taking Aspirin. But visit a neuro-physician immediately if you develop any neurological symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Grace, General & Family Physician
