Is It Advisable To Take Ovipure 5000 Mg On 14th Week Of Pregnancy?
Hello. I am 14 weeks pregnant & have been prescribed ovipure 5000 mg bi weekly as i have to travel by train. I have read numerous side effects & evidence of foetal risks based on US FDA studies for the drug. Pl advise whether i should take the drug or not ?
Hi, Thanks for the query. Ovipure 5000 contains chorionic gonadotropin. Usually HCG injections are recommended in the first trimester to maintain the pregnancy. By 14th week, placenta will take over the function of production of hormones. HCG usually helps in production of progesterone. So, if you are afraid of the side effects of the HCG and as you crossed the first trimester, you can directly go for progesterone injection with your doctor's advice. Better to prefer natural micronized progesterone as per as possible. Discuss these things with your doctor and follow her advice. Take care.
