Is It Normal For A Septate Hymen To Tear When There Is Difficulty While Using Tampons And During Intercourse?
Welcome to Ask a Doctor . Please type your question here... I ve been experiencing difficulties with tampons and also sex because I have a septate hymen, and it s a bit rarer as I have read, but not so rare. And it just tore in half and is bleeding what I would say is a little more than expected, is that normal?
The symptoms of septate hymen, are trouble inserting & removing a tampon as well as painful intercourse & bleeding if hymen is torn. However, if it is not torn during sexual encounter, then a minor surgical operation to remove the extra tissue and create a normal sized vaginal opening is done.
Normally, this bleeding of torn hymen is controlled of its own, without any particular treatment. Local sponges of ice- packs or sitting in a cold water tub, will usually control the bleeding. However, if the bleeding is not controlled with these measures or bleeding is very heavy, then you are advised to see your doctor & treatment done accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
