Is It Normal To Experience Excessive Urethral Bleeding While On Ciprofloxacin?
Hi So ive had a UTI for the last 2+ weeks and i recently got treated and currently taking my 3rd day of Ciprofloxacin. So the problem today Im having is i am nonstop bleeding quite heavily through my urethra. Its just coming out with no pressure. I thought it might have been my period but it doesnt have the odor nor consistency of a regular period.. i would just like to know if its normal? Or should i go to the ER?
As per my clinical experience, it is absolutely not normal to have severe hematuria as side effect of Ciprofloxacin. It is the underlying urinary infection which is not responding to Cipro and most likely cystitis. Needs immediate visit to ER for further work up and guidance, till then, drink plenty of liquids.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
