Is It Normal To Experience Foul Smell In The Nostril After A Sinus Endoscopy Surgery?
Hi, I did sinus endoscopy surgery before two weeks.after discharging from hospital I fell foul smell in my left nostril when I’m breathing.is it normal? Should I buy antibiotics? .after surgery the doctor only gives me nasal spray and encapsulated pine enteric soft capsule
The smell can gradually get better as the healing proceeds. However if there is continuous problem you can get a nasal examination and sinusendoscopy done to rule out the exact cause of the symptoms. A course of antibiotics can be advised if there is still some residual infection present. Also use a humidifier in your room. Continue using the nasal spray as advised by your doctor. Once get it checked so that if there is any infection it can be treated.

After surgery you may experience foul smelling nostril due to drainage of collected mucosa from sinus or secondary infection. Use nasal spray regularly, use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. Avoid cool drinks and freeze water. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
