Is It Normal To Fluctuate The Alt Reading In HIV Patient?

hi my flatmate has hiv and no other known complications , he was taking reyetaz, norvir and truvada but after a year on the regime his alt has been creeping up to 150 then it went to 90 when on 90 alt reading his doctor changed him to issentress and truvada combo because he said it would be easier on his liver . but after a few weeks on that regime it has gone up to 210 , is this a normal reaction?

HIV response to anti retroviral treatment may sometimes become reduced owing to the emergence of drug resistance.
In that case CD4 count will not raise, instead they will fall . In such situations, a drug resistance test is done and ART regimen is changed. If the new regimen is working, it will be reflected as a raise in CD4count and decrease bin viral load.
This could be the reason in your fiend, in whom change in ART has resulted in improvement reflected in the form of a raise in CD 4 court.
