Is It Normal To Have Cough And Soreness In Throat When Suffering From Mono?

I am 48 and was diagnosed with Mono three weeks ago by blood test. I felt a little better for a few days. Now my cough is getting worse and my throat is getting very sore again and I am always tired. Is this normal? How long should I feel like this? I am also concerned it could be symptoms of another illness, is this possible?
