Is It Normal To Have Cramping & Bleed After Having A PAP?

Hi, I had a pap on Monday morning. The first in about 4 yrs. I am 36 and a mother of 4. I started bleeding bright red blood last night and woke up this morning with major cramping and bleeding enough to need a pad. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Actually it's routine to have a detailed vaginal examination to exclude any abnormality. Now as you had PAP after 4 years, you should take rest. Take capsules to stop bleeding (CVP gynae over the counter.) as the blood stops or if it does not respond. You have to reach your treating gynecologist for more specific advise.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
