Is It Normal To Have Increased Urination After A TURP Button Procedure?
Hi, I had the TURP button procedure 5 weeks ago. Every hour or hour and a half max. during the day I get a sudden urgent urge to urinate. When this occurs I have about maybe 10 seconds max. to void or be very embarrassed!. My stream is strong and fast but the volume is no greater than pre-op. Is this normal ? If so when can I expect this urgency to void to normalize and begin gaining some volume? or am I having an issue ? Thank you .
The bladder has been used to pushing very hard due to the large prostate. Now that the prostate is less enlarged from the button, the bladder has to retrain itself to function. The urgency should subside in 4-6 weeks.
