Is It Normal To Have Too Much Bleeding For A Tampon To Absorb?

Hi,

I am 38 years old and I waited a while to start using tampons (after the birth of both children) because I was afraif TSS. Now that I use them everything is wonderful during that time( minus the fatique, headaches and cramps). Well, when I read the box it says that I am to keep the tampon in for up to 3-4 hours. But I have to change mine EVERY hour! Then when I take it out, I release what seems like too much blood (bloodclots as big enough to fit in a teacup!!!) This usually happens the first two or three days of my cycle. Is this normal?
