Is It Normal To Spit Up Chunks Of Phlegm While On Antibiotics For Fever?

Hello, my daughter is 8 years old and she developed a sore throat and minor cough about 4 days ago. I took her to see our family doctor and she put her on an anti biotic. She s had a fever ranging from 102-103 for 3 days. Advil has been given to reduce fever. I was alarmed when I noticed that the mucus she s been spitting up had chunks in it almost resembling soggy tiny pieces of bread. Is this normal with a cough as well as a fever despite being on anti s for almost 3 days?

Hi.
Thanks for your query for your daughter.
The production of so much phlegm is indicating that the production of the mucus is too much as a reaction to the infection and will get settled with time.
Continue the treatment as advised.
Give her steam inhalation to ease the removal.
