Interstitial cystitis is a diagnosis given only after cystoscopy, that too when all other tests have given no result. At 22, I am yet to see a patient with interstitial cystitis. Usually it is seen around 40. For younger women one needs to rule out SLE, bowel disorders and psychological issues. I am not sure whether pills will cause any harm. Better see a urologist.
