Is It Ok To Take Glycomet With Insulin?

I take Diamicron xr 60 before breakfast, Glycomet 1gm after breakfast, glycomet 1gm after dinner and insulin glargine injection of 20 units from the solostar pen at night. my waking fasten blood is 133. i have had type 2 diabetes for 20 years and I am 48 years old. Is it ok to take glycomet with insulin? i began this regimen one year ago and at the time my fasting was usually 200 or higher. I would like to lower my glycomet 1gm and also wonder if I can begin to exercise and only ale insulin at night? I am not overweight but do not exercise. thanks

Dear sir i can understand your concern.
i would like to explain you benefits of different drugs used in diabetes
the medication what you are following is the best combination.
Among all the medications i vote glycomet also called as metformin the best.
the beauty of this medication is its the only medication available in market which lowers insulin resistance in your body and helps insulin produced in your body to act in a better way to lower your blood sugar.
there are other medications which help in lowering insulin resistance like pioglitazone are associated with side effects so they are slowly losing their popularity(side effect like weight gain and heart failure).
among all the medications including insulin metformin is the only medication associated with the benefit of weight loss and weight maintenance.
the latest research is showing that it also protects against cancers.
it helps in reducing the liver fat(fatty liver) also.
considering above benefits i suggest my patients in clinic to continue use of metformin.
there are very few patients whom we will use metformin in a very low dose they are kidney failure patients
so i suggest yo to continue metformin
