Is It Okay To Give Calpol After Ibugesic, And Should We Continue Alternating Every 6 Hours For A Toddler With A Fever?
Hello Doctor, My son is 15 months old he having fever. Doctor suggested calpol 250 for fever at every 6th hours once and Ibugesic in case fever is above 102 and Ibugesic as SOS max 3 doses in a day. We gave Ibugesic 4 hours back, fever reduced and now back to 102. Is it okay to give calpol now ? Shall we give calpol at every 6th hours irrespective of Ibugesic? And give Ibugesic is fever is more than 102. What should be the pattern of doses we should follow?
The pattern of giving Calpol or Ibugesic may be decided by your doctor. However, in general, it seems O.K. that you give Calpol every 6 hours and Ibugesic whenever fever exceeds 102, taking care that it may be at least after 8 hours of your previous dose of Ibugesic. If the fever is still high, then cold water sponges may be used to bring it down. Still, I will insist that, it should be under guidance of your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
