Is It Possible For Marijuana To Cause Brain Infection?

Is it possible for marijuana to cause someone to have a brain infection? A close friend of mine died from a brain infection a few months ago. The doctors weren t able to determine what caused it in time. He had been smoking marijuana consistently for several years up until his death.

Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic.
I understand your concern.
I am Dr Alok Sinha, MD (Psychiatry) from India.
I will try to help you with best of my efforts.

Firstly let me tell you that smoking marijuana is not known to produce brain infection. However the person abusing any drug are vulnerable to neglect there health and exhibiting other high risk behaviours, like IV drug abuse, which in fact may cause infections.

Apparently your friend has contracted this infection this way and unfortunately died.
