Is It Possible To Avoid Hereditary Diseases?

Hi, we want to plan for our first baby. my husband is partially deaf by his birth. this is from his from family heridity, his one ear is completely deaf, and the other is 60% deaf.
as the case is like this, our baby will aslo get the same problem, we want to avoid it, how can we avoid it / please suggest me.

Hereditary hearing loss can be inherited in an autosomal dominant , autosomal recessive, or X-linked recessive manner, as well as by mitochondrial inheritance. Genetic counseling and risk assessment depend on accurate determination of the specific genetic diagnosis.
First you need to identify the specific genetic diagnosis in your husband.
Once that is identified, genetic counselor will advise you regarding chances of it's inheritance and how it can be detected during pregnancy by procedures like chorionic villous sampling etc.
