Dear Mumma,
Please remember, Once a Caesarean may not be always a Caesarean, however, once a Caesarean is always a Hospital Delivery.
It all depends up on what was the indication for the previous
Caesarean section. Grossly, the indications of CS are grouped in to repetitive indications like small pelvis, abnormal pelvis, etc. and nonrepetative indications like suffocation of the baby,
placenta previa, etc. So if the caesarean was performed for nonrepetative cause, this time the caesarean may not be repeated.
Whatever may be the indication, you have to have your delivery in a well equipped hospital only. During
pregnancy, the status of the scar on the
uterus will be assessed clinically as well as by
ultrasonography. During the labour, the integrity of the scar will be monitored and only if there is risk of the scar rupture, you will be taken for Caesarean section. This applies only if the indication for previous caesarean was nonrepetative and is not present in current pregnancy. If it was repetitive like small pelvis, which cannot change, you will posted for elective Caesarean section.
Please understand, the ultimate aim of any Obstetrician is to deliver a healthy baby without causing undue damage to the
maternal health. Have a faith in your Obstetrician and you will have happy motherhood.
Wish you a bonny baby to breastfeed.
