Is It Possible To Smoke Being On Tracheotomy And Oxygen?
My Mom is a heavy smoker and is in the last stage of COPD. I know smoking is terrible for you but she on the other hand on sees the reason for living is to enjoy her cigarettes. She is also on 3 litters of oxygen when she's a home. She is in ICU right now and they are thinking about putting a trach in. Not that I want her to but will she be able to smoke with a trach and being on oxygen?
I do not think that your mother will be able to smoke with a tracheostomy. She needs to quit smoking as soon as possible because of her condition. Please discuss with her doctor various options for smoking cessation like varenicline, bupropion or nicotine replacement.
Best wishes.
