Is It Safe To Administer Domstal 0.8 Ml In A Child?
My baby of 20 days is vomiting. Doctor advised to give Domstal drops 0.8 ml 3 times a day. In the domstal drop it is mentioned that domstal should be given 0.2 ml to baby of 6 months. I am surprised why doctor has advised such heavy does. Please advise
Domstal pediatric drop contains domperidone that is used in the treatment of indigestion, acid reflux, nausea or vomiting. This medication helps gastric motility that means it increases the movement of food through the stomach and intestine as well as helps to relieve bloating, fullness and gastric discomfort. This medication is safe and effective for the baby if this medication is given in the dose and duration as directed by the doctor. Recommended pediatric dose is 0.4-0.8 ml pediatric drops/10 kg, 6-8 hours daily. So, usually dose of this medication depends on the body weight of the baby and it is recommended not to use in case of under six months old. The doctor may suggest that dose of Domstal according to your baby's body weight. If you have still any doubt, then you can consult your baby's doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
