Is It Safe To Continue Glycomet Inspite Of Its Side Effects?
Recently my mother was diagnosed with diabetes and has been prescribed glycomet gp1 . Although it brought her blood sugar levels under control, she complains of stomach ache. The doctor says it is normal for users to feel stomach ache until their bodies get used to it. Is it safe for her to continue using this tablet? If yes for how long will this pain persist? She hardly eats anything due to this pain. Please advise
When ever we prescribe any drugs we will weigh both effects and side effects of the particular drugs.
But here in this cause glycomet gp1 contains metformin and glimeperide which is known to cause gastrointestinal side effects like nausea, vomitting, metallic taste in the mouth and full ness in the stomach including constipation.
But once if you go on taking the drug all these symptoms will subside, so dont worry. Metformin is a good drug with proved cardiovascular safety. It is adviced to continue it.
Thanks
