Is It Safe To Give Antibiotics Thrice In A Day For A 9 Month Old?

Hello my name is Travis keeling my question is about antibiotics which my 9 months old son is taking. Yesterday his doctor gave his mom a prescription around 230pm she did not get it filled until around 600 pm that evening and gave it to my son around 630. By 8pm when he was about to go to sleep she was about to give it to him again and I asked her why. She said it was because it said give 2 times a day . I explained that was too close of a time to be administering the same medicine again. So this evening she has given him his medicine and filled me in this was his third time taking it because he only took it once yesterday and tomorrow would start the actual two times a day. I explained to her although its antibiotics and shouldn't hurt being took this extra time, that it's still not right giving it to him three times today because she only got to once yesterday and she does not agree with me. Am I wrong ? Can you help me or her understand? Thank you , Travis.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for your question. Different medications come with different instructions. Those instructions should be followed. If it is instructed to give a medication twice per day then that is the maximum number of times it should be given. A twice-a-day medication that was started in the evening, and only one dose was given, should still only be given twice the next day. This medication, because the first dose was given in the evening, should have the last dose administered in the morning of the final day.
