Is It Safe To Have Althea Pills For Missed Period?

Hi! I have PCOS since I was in college. Luckily I got pregnant and gave birth last June 23 via LTCS. I got my menstruation then monthly but on different dates, July 23, August 25, September 25. Had no period last October and had it on Nov.2. Im planning to take Althea pills as prescribed by my OB on the first day of my mens this coming Dec. Is it safe for me to have uprotected sex? Can I start taking Althea even I do not have my period? Thank you!

Hi,
In the current scenario, you can start taking the pill any day after excluding pregnancy through a blood test and/or a trans-vaginal sonogram. Please use additional protection using condoms for the first seven days. The pills should be taken at the same time everyday, maintaining a gap of 24 hours between each dose. The pills are preferably taken after the evening meal. Continue with the pills even with irregular sexual intercourse and stop using only if there is an abstinence of more than 3 months. Hope this helps.
