Is It Safe To Keep The Baby With 18 Mm Bilateral Ventricle?
dear doctor my baby is diagnosed with 18 mm bilateral ventricle size at 18 weeks, and at 23 weeks also the same dilation is diagnosed. we have planned to keep the baby. what would be the best advise. this arrested dilation seems to be a good hope doctor ?
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Dilated lateral ventricle of size more than10 mm is known as ventriculomegaly and is present in many situations like: 1. Fetal nervous system anomaly 2. Chromosomal anomalies, especially Down syndrome 3. Genetic syndromes If the fetus do not have any other anomaly, and if you want to keep the baby, it is best to consult a fetal medicine specialist so that a detailed anomaly ultrasound can be done and amniocentesis should be done to rule out any chromosomal anomaly. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
