Is It Safe To Move My Mother To Another Hospital Suffering From Rectal Pressure And Abdominal Pain Post Colon Resection Surgery?

My mom is 2 weeks post colon resection. She is complaining of rectal pressure and abdominal pain rated at a 10. Last CAT scan showed another blockage according to 2 ER Drs. Her surgeon says she is fine. She is currently at the hospital that the surgery occurred at and there are no other surgeons available. Is pain rated at a 10 and rectal pressure normal at this point? Is it best to leave her at the current hospital or ask to transfer her now to another one?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The substantial amount of pain with a score of 10 is not normal and if you desire to shift her to another health care facility you should ask for the discharge against medical advise or discharge at the request from your treating surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

First of all, it is necessary to know what caused these problems since is just operated and recovering from major surgery. This can be done by the following ways:
CT scan of the abdomen can help to know what exactly is going on in abdomen to have such a severe pain.
Sincere there is no Surgeon available, you can certainly shift her to another hospital with permission of the authority of the hospital after confirming that the patient is hemodynamically stable and can be shifted to nearby another hospital.
You will also have to talk to the Surgeon in the hospital where you want to shift her and get their approval, they can provide you well-equipped ambulance with Doctors.
