Is It Safe To Opt For Sedation For Extracting Tooth If Am Addicted To Smoking?

Hi i would like to know if i should go forward with sedation to remove a tooth today. I would like to let you know that i smoke atleast a pack of cigarettes a day! Please let me know if i should be worried, i am. And i just don't know if i want to be put to sleep. I am afraid that i may not be able to breath right! Thank you for your help.
