Is It Safe To Smoke Cigarette After Recovering From Glandular Fever?

I was wondering if I could smoke normal cigarettes as I had glandular fever 5 weeks ago, and even though for around half of that time I didn t smoke any af all the other half when I did, I felt more tired ; Is this due to the fact my enlarged spleen is struggling to metabolize the toxins. for now at least should I quit smoking , for like a month or two till I m better ;

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Smoking may aggravate the fever, it is better not to smoke.

Smoking can reduce the function of the immune system. Glandular fever and cigarette smoking together may increase the risk of degenerative lung diseases.

If your facing problems with weaning, then you need to consult your physician, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
