Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 22 year old male. i had septoplasty 14 days ago... I am ont looking ofor an intervention from anyone at this venture. I am an avid marijuana smoker, is it safe to smoke weed again, or not?? please be clear in your response and dont say " smoking is bad for you." thanks
Heh, depends on the septum. Oddly enough, the repair of the heart septum might be less of a bad problem than if it is the nose. Marijuana is a (MILD) stimulant of heart rate and blood pressure. As such it puts a (SLIGHT) stress on the heart. This is a small effect. In comparison with, say, walking up stairs, I do not know which is more stress but I've had people admitted from walking up the stairs. A stress test would say if it is REALLY SAFE if it is HEART septoplasty.
On the other hand if it is repair of the septum in the nose, smoking of any sort is going to really affect the respiratory tract and really mess up healing of it. A non-smoke source of marijuana is not going to have much of an effect on healing. No, not safe until healed to have the respiratory tract exposed to smoke if it is NASAL septoplasty.
