Is It Safe To Stop Ramipril If The BP Lowers Below Normal?

My blood pressure went down to 110/70 after being on Ramipril for almost 2 years, my doctor said to go off of it for a month and see what happens. I would suspect my blood pressure will go up again and I will have to go back on it. She's worried 110/70 is too low a blood pressure for me. So should I just keep taking Ramipril ?

HI THANKS FOR YOUR QUERY. ITS REALLY UNSCIENTIFIC TO ABRUPTLY STOP ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS.THIS CAN HAVE DISASTROUS OUTCOMES LIKE REBOUND ELEVATION OF BLOOD PRESSURE AND HEART ATTACKS....YOUR BP IS IN CONTROL BECAUSE OF RAMIPRIL. A BP OF 110-70 IS VERY MUCH WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS AND IS NOT LOW AS PER YOUR PERCEPTION..A PERSON ONCE DIAGNOSED TO BE HYPERTENSIVE(ESSENTIAL HTN) IS LIKELY TO BE HYPERTENSIVE THROUGHOUT HIS LIFE.IF LOW BP IS A CONCERN ,THEN DOSE REDUCTION /DRUG CHANGE IS A BETTER OPTION TO SUDDEN COMPLETE DRUG WITHDRAWL,MIND YOU.ITS BETTER IF YOU REGULARLY MONITOR YOUR BP IN SITTING AND STANDING POSTURES .GET YOURSELF REVIEWED WITH A CARDIOLOGIST ON AREGULAR BASIS.THANK YOU
