Is It Safe To Take Etosys-MF For Slight Bleeding At 6 Weeks Of Pregnancy?

Hi, doctor I am having 6week twin pregnancy , suddenly got little bleeding , took gestone50mg injection which is prescribed by Ivf doctors, but my local gynaecologist suggested to take medicine etosys mf thrice a day for five days . So is it safe to take this medicine in first trimester? Plz answer

Hi,

Besides other indication, injection Gestone 50, is also used for helping to maintain healthy pregnancy, by helping the uterus grow and preventing contractions during pregnancy. In my opinion, there is very limited role of Etosys-MF tablet in bleeding of pregnancy, though it may have some role in preventing miscarriage by its anti-spasmodic action.

Also, Etosys-MF tablet is not safe to be used during pregnancy. Though, there are very limited studies about its side effects with use during pregnancy. Studies in animals do find its negative role on the developing fetus. Hence, I think that its use should be had during pregnancy taking benefits vs risks into consideration under guidance of your doctor.
