Is It Safe To Take Methadone For Pain Relief?

I have had 18 surgeries on my arachroid cyst since January 1998 and I also a VP Shunt. I have had two staph infections and one of these ruptured my spleen and I almost died. I think that was a very sick individual because I stayed in ICU for five days with great care. My pain was so bad and I had to go to a pain clinic. As you know, I was put on medicine that would help my pain. The medicine was methadone 10 mg. That medicine is great and I stay out of pain and returned to my teaching of Senior English in high school. Do you have any suggestions?

Methadone is an opioid used for relief of pain. Methadone may not give you a high like those of some street opioids, nevertheless it has addiction potential.
I would recommend you to take Methadone as directed by your pain specialist. Do not self medicate or increase the dose.
I think I have solved your queries on Methadone. Thanks for writing into healthcaremagic. Have a nice day.
