Is It Safe To Take Methylprednisolone With Amoxicillin For A Toothache, Given That Methylprednisolone Reduces Infection-fighting Abilities?

I took Methylprednisolone because my face is swollen due to a tooth ache I read that Methylprednisolone reduces your body’s infection fighting abilities. I took an amoxicillin as well. These were medications previously prescribed. Is this combo okay?

Hi,

A single dose of Methylprednisolone won't make much of a difference. You can take both together. Yet, contact your dentist before starting the medication. Don't start it on your own.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Grace, General & Family Physician
